  To whom it may concern,

  I have add the Facebook share button to my pages, and everything was working fine. But when I woke up today, the count of likes were reset to zero. Why? Can I do anything to fix this? And can I do something so it doesn’t happen again in the future?

  I would like to add to I have searched if there was a solution to this problem before asking. I’ve seen a lot of posts regarding this, but none could suggest a solution.

  Hi!

  Thanks for the report. We recently made some adjustments to how sharing numbers are handled for http vs. https links. The sharing count might take a bit of time to update. Can you let me know if the sharing numbers aren’t back to normal within the next few hours?

  Hi there,

  It looks like the counts are still back at zero. Could you provide me an example of a URL where you previously showed a much higher share value for Facebook that is now reset to 0 (or a much lower number)?

  Hi!

  It appears as though this is an issue with the “official” share buttons. Could you try switching to another button type (text-only for example) here to see if it makes a difference?

  Hi!
  I tried switching it to text only, and it went back to 50+. I then tried button only, and it remained 50+. I was happy. :)
  However, waking up this morning – or was it yesterday? – it went back to 6. No idea in which hat this 6 was taken (with the official button, the count would go back to 3).

  funny, I was about to right to you… The facebook number is still incorrect is the other post. But my last post reached 30+, and the number never got reset to 0. So I figured maybe it is fixed for the new posts?

  I don’t believe the issue will apply to new posts. The issue here is related to some of the old shares using the http version of the link whereas others use the https version. New shares should all be with the https version, which means they’ll all appear counted in the button. We’re working on a fix for older posts!
