  How do I use the Facebook widget without it copying my post to Facebook?

  Publicize is what sends your posts to Facebook.

  You can safely add the Facebook Likebox widget to your blog’s sidebar via Appearance -> Widgets in your blog’s Dashboard without connecting Publicize.

  And how do I not publicize it?

  You can disconnect from Publicize via Settings -> Sharing in your blog’s Dashboard.
