Facebook Widget (how to you show security password to avoid spammers)

Facebook Widget: I have the FACEBOOK widget on my blog. I would like those who “LIKE” my blog to have a password icon. Not to go directly to their page first but have to enter a password first. How do I set this up?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi Earl,

If I”m understanding your request correctly, there is not a way to force a password prompt before allowing a reader to like your page via the Facebook widget.

If I misunderstood your question or need anything else, please let us know.

Sorry, let me clarify. I have a Facebook post on home page with Faces of different Facebook user. (For example, john reid has his picture on my facebook in the “like” section). If you click John Reid’s picture it directs you to his facebook. I thought there was a password icon first (could not see his FACEBOOK immediately) and then you can go to John reid’s facebook. Please advise.

  • Hi Earl,

The like box is created by Facebook and WordPress.com can only control limited elements of it (e.g. to show faces or not).

The links associated with each image returns the user’s Facebook profile ( https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004399061668 ), which will either show their profile or perhaps a login, based on what that user allows others to see per their Facebook privacy settings.

Does that help explain the behavior?
