Facebook Widget plugin
-
I am trying to connect the Facebook plugin, but nothing shows up after I put the facebook link in the box.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please see these support docs: Facebook integration
https://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-integration/Blogger installed plugin capability does not exist on WordPress.COM blogs for security reasons, and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality. For that type of functionality, you’d need a self-hosted WordPress.ORG software install running on a paid web hosting service.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/If you require plugins see: Moving to Self-Hosted WordPress http://move.wordpress.com
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
The wordpress.ORG support forum is at http://wordpress.ORG/support/

I am referring to the facebook page plugin. It will not work, everytime I put the link in the box, nothing shows up, but when I add a title that does.
-
Please read what I posted above again. There is no FTP access to your wordpress.COM site and there is no ability to install any plugins. If you require plugins see: Moving to Self-Hosted WordPress http://move.wordpress.com
-
I did read what you posted. If I have done it before, but it went away. It is the facebook page plugin where You can see your post from facebook on your site. If It can not be used then why is the option still there? Is there a number to call?
-
Are you referring to auto-posting to Facebook through the Publicize app?
See:
Publicize https://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/
Facebook Profiles & Pages https://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#facebook-profiles-pagesSee also: Sharing https://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/
-
No, I am referring to the facebook page plugin that allows the facebook page to be on the sidebar through the widgets tab.
-
Are you referring to this hosted by wordpress.COM site http://jillwhitehuffman50.wordpress.com/?
Yes or no.
If your answer is no then then post the URL of the site you are referring to here please. -
For Facebook integration go to https://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-integration/
Be aware that you need to use the Facebook likebox widget found in your wordpress.COM Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets area and not the one from Facebook. See here http://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-integration/#facebook-like-box
-
Maybe you mean the Facebook Page Plugin https://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-integration/#facebook-page-plugin

Yes, that’s what I’ve been talking about. The facebook plugin does not work. I did all those steps, and it would not show up.
-
I just saw another thread here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/facebook-widget-49?replies=2 where a blogger had the same issue and have marked both for Staff help.
-
Hi @jillwhitehuffman50, I ran into an issue earlier today where removing and re-adding the widget solved the problem. Can you give that a try and let us know if i does not work after that?
-
-
Okay, I think we’ve figured this out: can you check on the privacy settings for your Facebook page? It needs to be publicly available if you want to display it on your website.
-
The page is public. Are there other steps I need to take besides copy and pasting the url. I saw the html codes and I embed one, but the one that goes in the header I did not know how to place that code.
-
@jillwhitehuffman50 great, when I checked it earlier, it did not show up when I was logged out. Now I can see it.
And now it shows up when I view your site, too. Are you seeing it there?
@timethief I know you’d seen a few of these; this appears to be the fix. Facebook apparently updated pages recently to respect privacy settings (and not just make them publicly visible.) If someone’s page is not publicly visible it won’t work in the widget.
