Fail: Upload New Header Image to "Alto" theme
-
I can’t upload a new photo to the Alto theme. I can select the image thumbnail, but when I look in the lower RH corner of the page, the only button there is “Select and Crop.” When I click that, a large version of the image, slightly darkened, appears, and the button label changes to “Crop Image.” There is no way to bypass this step in the process that I can see, yet if I click that button, I get an error dialog “There has been an error cropping your image.” I checked to see if Alto has Flexible Headers: it does. I checked to be sure JPEG is an acceptable file type: It is. I checked to see if Firefox is supported: Not only supported, but preferred. I cleared the cache. This seems like the kind of thing that should be easy to do, yes?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What browser and version are you using? Is the image larger than the header needs to be, or smaller?

Firefox 31.0 Image size 1100 x 736. Where do I find the size the image “needs to be”? Note: The thumbnail image is nearly square, so it has already been cropped by some routine. In the RH column on the Customize page, the image thumbnail is in its original aspect ratio.

Hello Community! I still have no solution. Anybody? I need to be able to do this. What I really wish is that the step-by-step instructions actually yielded pages with the buttons they describe. WordPress: Why does the “upload/edit image” process take the user outside of the Dashboard? In fact, why has WordPress not created an editable WYSIWIG space for each theme? I came up with this idea in 2002. Is it really so hard to do? How great would it be to be able to have (in my case) the “Alto” theme on my screen, only with text boxed, image handles, and a small “crop, re-size” Canvas? Yes?
