Failed Import Question

    Hello,

I’ve tried to move an on-prem WordPress hosted site to WordPress.com and have run into some issues. I previously reached out to support over email and was advised to disconnect Jetpack from the on-prem instance, reconnect it, and then try the import again – which failed a second time.

So I’ve given up on Jetpack ever working at this point and tried a plugin approach (UpDraft Plus) to export my site from on-prem and import it to WordPress.com, which also failed due to some sort of permission problem on the WP.com site – but at least did the SQL step so the database was updated which should have brought my content over.

Then I used an FTP client to move over the rest of my export and the site is sort of functional at this point. Things are still missing but it’s perhaps usable to start cleaning it up now.

But after all that, I’m getting the “Import failed” error on some pages which makes me think there might be something wrong or in need of reset. In particular I was trying to get back to hosting configuration (https://wordpress.com/hosting-config/jwyoung9.wpcomstaging.com) and it’s giving me that message.

Would someone be able to clear that import flag from my site? Or do a check to determine if the site is healthy or not?

  • Hi there,

I’ve reset the importer on your site and you can now start again.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.
