    Hello there,

Your site is not hosted by WordPress.COM and those are the only sites we provide support for here.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.

WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

Thank you so much for the reply. I understand the difference between the .com and .org WordPress types. I was just trying to set up a Gravatar. Is there a separate site for .org sites? Many thanks.

I do know that some applications may ask for something like an XML-RPC (or API) endpoint, which will be your blog domain followed by “xmlrpc.php”. Did you try http://thefledglingbaker.com/xmlrpc.php?

I’m sorry I am unable to help you resolve this. I tagged this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

    Hi there!

Can you let me know if this issue’s resolved or if you’re still seeing the error when attempting to verify your site through Gravatar?

If you’re still seeing the error, then please could you let me know the following:

    * Do you use any security plugins that may block access to this file? If so, could you try to disable them and retry verifying your site?

    * Does your hosting provider block access to this file? If you don’t find any plugin that may block access to the file on your site, I would recommend that you get in touch with your host.

Let me know if that helps. I’ll be happy to troubleshoot further with you, if not.

    siobhyb,
I think I got the Gravitar issue resolved.
I don’t know if you can help with another prickly issue I’ve been battling, and that is getting my site verified for Google. One of the ways to do it, if you’re not html savy, is to have my domain name provider add a specific line of code to my DNS. I contacted them and they said they took care of it, but it didn’t work. I hate contacting them again because quite frankly I don’t think they have a clue what they are doing (surmised after an hour of online chat).
One of the other routes is is add a string of html that Google provides to me to upload, which I did. The next instruction is download it to my site. BIG problem. I haven’t a clue how to do that. Any ideas are welcome. Many thanks for your posssible help.

    Hi there.

I’m glad to hear the Gravatar issue is resolved! :)

If you’re having trouble inserting the code to verify your site with Google, have you considered a plugin to help you out? You can find a list of plugins tagged with ‘Google Webmaster Tools’ in the WordPress.org plugin repository:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/tags/google-webmaster-tools

Hope that helps! If you’re still looking for some extra information after that, could you try asking in the WordPress.org support forums? We try to keep discussion solely around WordPress.com sites here. You can find the separate forums for WordPress sites hosted elsewhere here:

    https://wordpress.org/support/

    Thanks!
