Failing to Receive Notifications for Followers

    Over the past couple of weeks I had around 100+ followers to my blog, of which I believe most of them are spammy WordPress websites, which I find very disappointing.

    Under Settings > Discussion Settings on the Dashboard I have enabled ‘Email me whenever Someone follows my blog.’

    I am not getting notifications under the WordPress notification icon (top right of the screen) when someone follows my blog. I have checked my email (Gmail) including the spam folder and I am not receiving email follower notifications either. I should have received a hundred notifications.

    Can someone please suggest what I can do to enable these notifications?
