Fall theme request
-
I was looking around the forums for a place to suggest theme ideas. I saw where several members said it had to be done through feedback, but when I clicked there on the appropriate links, it led me to this topic where it said to suggest the theme through the “Ideas” forum:
http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/07/can-you-add-a-theme-to-wordpresscom-please/So here it is. I’d love to see some fall themes like the following:

Hi there,
Frankly I find this inclusion in the FAQs to be inappropriate and would like to see it removed forthwith. IMO such a statement is bogus. It merely results in volunteers answering these threads and telling bloggers to send their requests into staff so
(1) it’s a waste of volunteer time and energy;
(2) it makes bloggers feel like they are getting the-run-around having to request twice over;
(3) it takes so long for any theme requests to result in adaption so the theme is introduced that the whole process has a negative feel to it;
(4) and if and when the themes are adapted for wordpress.com they usually lack the full features of the wordpress.org version that the bloggers requesting them expected. -
Agreed. I think they like to make it look like they’re open to suggestions from the community, but in practice it isn’t the case. If Matt likes a theme, he’ll make it available here; if he doesn’t, he won’t. It doesn’t matter whether a hundred people have requested it or none.
So, in reality, if you want to use a particular theme there are two options open to you: buy the CSS upgrade and port the theme to Sandbox, which is always going to involve compromising on some elements, or shift your blog to the .org version of the software. Either way, if you want to widen your choice of themes, it’s going to cost you.
