False indications of new notifications on every page reload

  This occurs anywhere that the new notifications indicator exists at the top right of the screen.

  I move to a different page, or refresh the current page, and the notification icon turns orange within a few seconds, but there is nothing new there.

  (a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.

  Have you tried enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

  (b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/

  If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.

  Make sure that you have both third-party cookies enabled and JavaScript enabled

  It stopped within a few hours, whatever was causing it, and has not returned. No changes were made to my PC in that timeframe.
