False representation of an organization after gaining access on contract based work

    There is a person who did a little bit of graphic/web design and updates for my website that you are currently hosting. He has hijacked the website without my permission. I cannot access the site, he has it blocked, and he hasnt spoken to me in at least 45 days. I have reached out to him with no response. I need to start taking steps to recover that account. http://www.thepinkgiraffehouse.org since he is not communicating with me and is doing whatever he wants with the website. I dont know if he is intentionally being hostile. He is 24 years old and very inexperienced but very intelligent as well. It feels manipulative. Would love to know how some of you have dealt with situations like this where someone is keeping your property hostage for something I dont know what.

    I’m very sorry to hear that happened to you, however, since your site is not hosted with WordPress.com (it is a site using the open-source WordPress software, from WordPress.org, but hosted with GoDaddy), you’ll want to reach out to them directly about it or write on the community forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

    Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com here:

    Hello! Thank you so much for clarifying that. I wasn’t aware of the difference as I have not had very much experience with the WP platform. I was under the impression it was hosted here but the registration is with godaddy as my emails are. I’m surprised they didn’t make that more clear when I recently spoke to them. But thank you. It will now be much easier to reclaim access to the site that he took down and blocked since they know for a fact that Im the account holder. Take care!
