Family unable to view Private blog despite accepting invitation.
-
None of the people I have invited can see the contents I have already posted. The background color is the one I have chosen and my blog name and avatar appear in the top left corner, but the message “NOTHING FOUND” appears on the screen. I’m presuming one of my settings is wrong, but cannot find it! Any advice?

By default the front page of your blog displays all posts. The 404 (page not found) error message on the front page of the blog appeared because the Admin of the blog deleted the placeholder Hello World post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/not-found/ As soon as you publish a post, not a page it will disappear. Read the differences between Pages and Posts.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/Volunteers cannot view private blogs and assist with them except by playing guessing games and that’s what I did above. I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Looking at my posts, the sidebar shows their status as “privately published” with visibility “private”.
I went and edited the “about” page and now I can’t see that when I view my blog.

Private Posts and Pages can only be viewed by the author.
Since the entire blog is Private, there’s no reason to do that, and you can safely “publicly” publish the posts. They’ll still be protected behind the private blog.
