Fastest Growing WordPress Blog
-
I have often wondered how WordPress calculate what is a ‘fastest growing blog’ – does anybody know? – and often check the list in the vain hope that mine might be there.
However if this is the sort of company I’d be in (from today’s list) :

maybe I’m not missing out on much!

Fastest growing is a combination of the greatest INCREASE in hits as a percentage (so even small blogs can get on it) and some magical factor staff won’t tell us so nobody can game the system.
The relationship between numbers and quality is tenuous at best. Decide which you’re going to go for and don’t resent people who go for the others. People who write for the New Yorker aren’t supposed to envy the ones who write for People and vice versa.
-
It isn’t a case of envy in the slightest, I was just interested in how it is calculated.
I certainly don’t resent anybody else getting on there – kind of a harsh comment by the way.
The only reason I singled out that blog (which has now been suspended by the way) was because it was blatantly an advert in the guise of a single post (and a particularly cruel single post) blog.
-
I didn’t mean to be harsh. I meant to respond to your “I’m not sure I want that kind of company” remark.
Cruelty is not against the terms of service at WordPress, and it’s not bad for hits, either.

wwe appear on there reasonably regularly when we have solid articles or hits from a news item re gaming or opinion piece, an dyes, there are several “questionable” sites on that listing, but I would imagine that the listing is not human generated, so it can’t sift through what is good or bad in regard to content etc ?!
Just a thought.

NONE of the BOTD or Top Blogs are sifted for quality, just for popularity, obedience to ToS, and some mystical factor that staff decides. But it’s not for complexity of thought, as you can see from ICanHaz etc.

“some sites are definitely ‘questionable’ “
