Fastest way to add 20 domains I already host on Bluehost to WordPress app on Windows + on Android?

    1. Since I’m logged into WordPress.com, and JetPack is enabled on all the sites, shouldn’t the WordPress App automatically include all the domains upon which I have installed WordPress (thru Bluehost’s WordPress installation wizard)?

    2. In the Windows app, I click ‘My Sites’, ‘Add new’, and get taken thru a completely unnecessary process, arriving at ‘Map your domain’. I’ve already set my DNS to Bluehost. Does the App no longer work with self-hosted sites? If I really do need to manually add the site, just entering the domain name – and perhaps the password – should surely be enough. (Since I’m already logged into WordPress, I think I shouldn’t need to even enter the password.)

    3. After adding each of my 20 new domains to the app on Windows, do I really need to repeat the same process on my Android? Shouldn’t they be the same automatically, or can’t I just click Sync?

    Thanks,
    Confused

  • Hi @imagiscape, each site would need to be connected through Jetpack to this account. We wouldn’t be able to automatically pick up other WordPress installations that are not connected.

And to clarify, Jetpack is a plugin as well as a connected service. For this you’ll be using the connected services.

Can you confirm whether that’s done for each site? Your second and third questions seem to me like they haven’t been added yet — since the second step is actually the process for creating a new site.

If you have connected the site through Jetpack and can’t add it in the app without a new site process, could you send a URL for an affected site?

Thanks. When I go to the login page for inspiredeconomies.com, I am invited to log in via my wordpress.com account. I click to do that, and the dashboard opens. I assume this means that the site is connected through Jetpack to this account. Does it? If I then click on JetPack, I see it is calculating stats for my site. I think that doubly-confirms it.

The WordPress app on my Android has 4 sites, while the WordPress app on my Windows laptop has I think 13 sites. That has been the case for a month or more, since I replaced my phone.

It seems I can now add inspiredeconomies.com via the Android app, but still not via PC (using the latest Chrome). Via PC, I’m never given an opportunity to add the URL, “Add New Site” launches a process for creating a whole new domain and site.

Perhaps I can add all 20 new domains (in addition to the 9 domains that are in the Windows app but not Android) via the phone. Either way, my 3 questions above still apply.

    Thanks

(I did not proceed with adding inspiredeconomies.com via my phone, since I want to find if it can be done on my laptop.)

  • To add the sites to your WordPress.com account on this end, you’ll need to connect them with your WordPress.com account when prompted in the Jetpack section of the sites’ Dashboards.

I found how to check / change my connection:
    https://%5Bmysite%5D.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack#/dashboard

Since the sites weren’t on my phone app, I found how to check that it’s the same email address registered on my wordpress.com account: https://wordpress.com/me/account.

On my phone I found I need to click Notifications in order to see the prompt to Connect to JetPack. I never cared to change Notifications so I never saw that prompt. Why does it not come up when you first open the app?

All works now. Could be simpler. Could be easier to find solutions.
