I had a similar issue this evening. I clicked on the “update automatically” button and I immediately goy a fatal error message.

Why doesn’t the link open to the site? I have a .com blog not a .org Does that make a differencevin resolving the issue?
-
@avescriptor – there is no blog linked to your name – there is no “update” button ever on a WordPress.COM blog, that is only on a WordPress.ORG install.
For more on the difference: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
The software in this area is way different between .ORG & .COM – if you want more help we need a link to the blog in question.

To add to what auxclass said, it doesn’t matter what your URL ends with (.com, .org, etc.) WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two very different programs. Please read the link he provided.

My address is http://birdzhaven.com/blog. I will check out the link. I appreciate the assistance.

You seem to be hosted on Bluehost which makes it a WordPress.ORG software install.
You should make friends over at WordPress.ORG, nice people over there.

I hit the wall over at the .org forum. I did a search and there is no mention of the issue. Do you know if there is a way to contact them directly, or should I try Bluehost?

Here are just three of the threads over there. I’ve not included the http:// at the beginning so as not to trigger the spammer filtering here.

Also, there is no phone support and bluehost will be worthless on this issue.
If you can get into the dashboard of your site, disable all plugins and switch themes back to either 2010 or 2011, the new one installed by 3.2.
