Fatal error with W3 Cache plug-in
-
I was having trouble posting on the site – one post became a blank page and another had have of it cut off. I did some research and the consensus was to deactivate W3. I did and that took care of the problem. Then there was another problem…
When I tried to reactivate W3, I got this message:
W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home1/dlrheinc/public_html/wp-content/object-cache.php.
Warning: require_once(WP_PLUGIN_DIR/w3-total-cache/inc/functions/compat.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home1/dlrheinc/public_html/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/inc/define.php on line 1478Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘WP_PLUGIN_DIR/w3-total-cache/inc/functions/compat.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/php/54/usr/lib64:/usr/php/54/usr/share/pear’) in /home1/dlrheinc/public_html/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/inc/define.php on line 1478
So I deleted W3 then reinstalled it, only to get the same message, which is now all over my posts (within the admin, not visible to public). I looked into W3 more and found out it is not comparable with WP 4.0 (which I am running now.) I know a cache plugin is not necessary, but will this error cause problems in posting to the site and mailing out to the email list?
The preview of the posts seem fine, but I’d hate to send them out and have them not load properly. Any suggestions or magical spells to solve this problem would help!

If you’re adding plugins then you have a WordPress.org install and you need to ask on their forums instead, good luck!
