Fault with Trash function.
-
This evening, I was writing a blog post in Block Editor mode. It had automatically saved, and I was about to add tags and hit Schedule. However, I accidentally pressed Move to Trash.
I immediately saw the message ‘Post successfully moved to trash’, with no confirmation option. I didn’t have time to press ‘Undo’ because the page turned blank. However, I was unable to find that entry in ‘Trashed.’
I’ve gone back and deliberately tried the same actions again: pressing Move to Trash, but not clicking ‘Undo’. I’ve now been unable to find that missing post in ‘Trashed’ again.
On the third occasion, I pressed ‘Undo’ and was taken to the ‘Trashed’ screen. I saw the post headline there and tried to restore it, but an error occurred when doing this. On reloading the page, that entry disappeared.
The question is this: is there any way to restore these entries that should have gone into ‘Trashed’, but have disappeared?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Further information: When using the editor in Classic mode, the ‘Trashed’ function appears to work normally.

Hi gcwriting,
That certainly sounds strange. I tried it just now, following the same steps as you describe, but it all seems to work correctly for me.
Did you have a look in Drafts to see if your missing posts are there?

I’ve had a look in Drafts, but they aren’t there.
This fault only seems to happen in Block Editor mode. In Classic mode, Trash works as normal.

Hi gcwriting,
Just checking, the site you’re having this issue with is your gcameronwriting.wordpress.com one?

Hi gcwriting,
I’ve added the modlook tag to this thread so it can get the attention of staff here, they will be able to go in and have a look at your blog dashboard and hopefully see the issue you’re having there.

Hi there,
I’m able to replicate this, so it looks like a bug with the editor. I’ve reported it to our developers so they can take a closer look. Thanks for reporting!

Hi there,
This issue has now been fixed, and trashed posts in the block editor should now correctly go to the Trash and be possible to restore.
Thanks again for reporting this issue to us.
