favicon looks different

  Hi,

  I have uploaded a favicon for my blog. It is on a transparent background and is just a circle (taken from the style of those on the homepage of my site). When I uploaded it, it showed me how it would look in all the different sizes and it was perfect.
  However, when actually on my webiste the icon in the tab at the top does not look solid- the circle has gaps everywhere.

  Why is this? How do i make it solid?
