Favicon not showing
-
Hi, I’ve been trying to fix our site’s favicon, as it hasn’t been displaying on google search results for a couple days now but have been unsuccessful. please search “unidingo” to see what I mean.
Here are the steps I’ve been through:
- I have uploaded a 512×512 image to the site icon and then indexed my site on google search console. => didn’t show on search results
- I have uploaded a favicon to the site identify customiser and then indexed my site on google search console => didn’t show on search results
- I have installed the plugin “RealFaviconGenerator” and submitted a master image for the favicon and then installed the favicon to the website. I then indexed my site on google search console => didn’t know on search results
- I have checked the crawled HTML code for the favicon given my google. Here is the relevant icon code:

Clearly wordpress hasn’t been able to generate a 48×48 icon size, which is required by google search here: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/favicon-in-search#:~:text=To%20help%20people%20quickly%20identify,(square)%20aspect%20ratio).
It’s actually rather infuriating that wordpress doesn’t accommodate for something as simple as a favicon, or am I just being crazy here?
How can I directly edit the index.html of the wordpress site so I can rectify the issue?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there! It may take some time for the favicon to reflect in Google search results. From what I see, the favicon already appears in the search result as expected. Please check the screenshot here – https://d.pr/i/Q9Af3V
Let us know if the icon doesn’t appear for you. Please share a screenshot of what you see in that case. Thanks!
