Favicon not updating
-
I uploaded my first blavatar yesterday when I started my blog. It was of a bottle like looking thing. When I visit my blog it still shows up as my favicon though I changed the blavatar later yesterday to one of a clover. The favicon however has not changed to the clover and still displays the bottle.
Oddly enough, when I visit the site from my phone, the favicon is the clover, however when I visited it later today from my friends laptop, it was still the bottle. Is the favicon simply slow to upload? I have cleared my cache multiple times and very thoroughly, but it still comes up as the bottle.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

A download of the site’s favicon.ico downloads an image of the previous blavatar (the bottle). :?

Hi. When I visit your site, I see the clover already as your favicon. So try clearing your cache memory and deleting your cookies:

Hm. Cleared my cache multiple times in many ways, but it still shows up as the bottle. >_<

I see a clover and I’m using Firefox 4.0. Please try clearing your browser cache and cookies again. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/ Exactly which browser are version of it are you using please?
-
I’ve used Chrome, Firefox 4.0 and IE, and multiple computers including ones that had not accessed the site with the old favicon. My conclusion is that it is probably the network’s ISP cache.
-
You may be right but it would be good to get some answers re:browser versions. Which version of Chrome? Chrome 11 is stable and 13 is not – it’s in development.
Which version of IE? If it’s IE9 then it’s the most recent stable version. -

IE6 is no longer supported by either its creator Microsoft or by WordPress.com. See here and scroll down to Goodbye, IE6 > http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2011/05/19/just-write/ Chrome 11 should not be a problem … hmmm

@haseeb, I tried in multiple browsers and refreshed many times. I’ve even tried on different computers. The only thing that has the current updated favicon on it is when I browse from my phone which leads me to believe that everything using the current network I’m on is not working, and that perhaps it is the network cache that I am having problems with.
IE6 isn’t really much of a problem timethief. It doesn’t show any favicon whatsoever, but I’m certain if I did update it, it would still show the cached favicon.

I confirm I can see the clover favicon using Firefox 4.0 and that I have no additional help to offer. Perhaps you ought to contact Staff. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

I see the clover favicon and have a possible explanation.
This, along with the custom header error reported below, makes me think the issue is with different data centers. We haven’t seen an error like that in a few years, but it looks similar to the last time this happened.
The solution is to just wait and eventually the data centres will synch up.

Thanks for the help guys! I guess the overall solution is to wait and let time tell. I appreciate your support.

That’s the problem. The image needs to either be a .jpg or .png.
In this case, I recommend converting the .gif into a .png.
