FB Shares

The Facebook shares on my page — https://detailedpoliticalquizzes.wordpress.com/iran-quiz/ — are now at “2”. However, they were well over 100 recently. Can this be corrected? I have a back-up that shows that the Facebook shares were well over 100.

I believe the cause of your share count issue may be the same as the one here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/social-share-numbers-not-accurate?replies=8 However, as I do not know that for sure I tagged this thread for a Staff follow-up and response. All Facebook likes on my blog posts have reset to 0. And this particular blog post – https://musiccanada.wordpress.com/2014/12/30/canadian-music-blogs-top-30-album-faves-of-2014/ – had over 800 Facebook likes yesterday. Today it has only 7. I did not alter any settings on either my Facebook account or blog prior to the reset. After the reset, I tried re-setting the connection to Facebook under the blog’s sharing feature as recommended here – https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/all-my-facebook-likes-disappeared?replies=5 – but it did not bring back the Facebook likes.

Hi all,
As Shawna mentioned in the following thread, we are having issues with Facebook sharing counts due to the way http vs. https URLs are tracked. We’re investigating a fix. I’ll keep this thread updated as soon as we find out more.

Anything new regarding this topic? Many articles of mine had thousands of Likes. I hope they will come back.

This is an important problem to fix as Facebook likes draw traffic to WordPress and also encourage bloggers to keep doing what they do. Hoping this problem will be fixed as soon as possible.

Same with me. Since Jan 1 my Facebook like/share/comment stats do not match what is shown on the WordPress Facebook share box. For example, Facebook says 40 odd likes but WordPress says 9. This was not happening before January. Very frustrating. My blog is http://www.shittytittiebangbang.com and my two most recent posts are inaccurate.

Hi everybody. I hope there will be a way to get old likes back, as it would be awkward to lose thousands of likes.

Most Facebook likes have recently disappeared from mine also:-
https://timburness.wordpress.comPicked up some new ones on a more recent post a few days ago but the loss of 70+ Facebook likes on some older posts is upsetting as I spent quite a lot of time and effort promoting them! Another older post has had a reduction from 160+ likes to 120.
Very much hoping I can get my old likes back and that you can sort this out for everyone,

Mine were not working for a week, and then they got reset to zero. Sad to go from 7k FB likes to 0.

You do not have a WordPress.COM blog linked to your username. You have a established a pattern of posting non-answers and incorrect answers into support forum threads that’s indicative of spamming to get traffic back to your commercial site and I have reported that to Staff. -

Some good news! If you switch the sharing buttons away from the official buttons (to text + icon for example like this: http://d.pr/i/1jdZv), we should be able to help get these share counts back to normal. Could you try switching the sharing button away from the official icon and then running your post URL through the Facebook debugger here?

Once you’ve input your URL, click “Fetch New Scrap Information.”
If this doesn’t update the sharing number, please reply back here with one URL example and the Facebook share range you expect to see on the post.
