Hi, my sharing button was already set to text + icon. I ran a couple of posts through the debugger, but did not notice an update in the numbers. Would it have automatically updated after running it through the debugger?
This post, according to my stats, has had 7, 160 views [most through Facebook (I cant’ find all the info on stats page)] and a few dozen tweets:

I don’t believe this is the same issue. The original issue had to do with a shift in site URLs from HTTP to HTTPS. However, this doesn’t apply if your site has a custom domain like anthrolactology.com.
I’m assuming you previously saw Facebook shares on that post. Is that correct? If so, I believe this issue is related to the purchase of the custom domain on 1/21/15. When you switch to a custom domain on your site, all of the post URLs switch. So, http://anthrolactology.wordpress.com/2015/01/12/milk-for-lucia/ becomes http://anthrolactology.com/2015/01/12/milk-for-lucia/. This causes all of the sharing counts to be reset back to 0. New shares with the custom domain URL will be recorded and attached to the sharing buttons. Unfortunately, we can’t combine the old share numbers with the new domain URL.

Hi there Jeremy,
I’m not very good at this but I think I’ve followed your instructions above to the best of my ability but “Fetch New Scrap Information” didn’t seem to do anything.
As one of many of my posts reset to 0, the following had 73 fb likes (I’m fairly confident that’s right) and now has nothing.
Any help appreciated.

It looks like you’re using the official sharing buttons at the moment. Could you try switching to the Text + Icon version here?

There might be a slight difference in how a like vs. share appears on their Facebook page. From my understanding, likes appear in their activity stream whereas shares appear on their wall. However, on our side, the numbers previously on the “like” button will match the number on the share button.

I had the same problem. Now I switched the Style of the Like Button and the likes came back. There are still two things I don”t understand. Why would I have to use the debugger and would I have to do that with every single of my posts? And secondly, I like the classic like buttons better but If I switch back the likes disappear again. Is there any possibility to get the classic like buttons back with the correct number of likes?

You may not have to use the debugger. However, Facebook caches sharing numbers so if you switch buttons or are having troubles with counts adding up, it can be helpful to force Facebook to recache what it sees for your domain.

We’re working on getting the official buttons to work again! However, for now, only the other options will work.
