Feature Request: 301 Moved Permanently

Please implement a feature that allows me to switch on a 301 status code for my whole blog.
This would free a huge amount of unused domains and weblogs – for lots of people start blogging here at wordpress.com and then move with wordpress.org’s CMS to their own webhosts.
Search engines would then – as users directly acessing the old blog – be fair and correctly forwarded to the new weblog and bloggers can keep the publicity they have received in the current search engine’s index.

sounds like something you should send to feedback (if feedback is open, that is), because then you’ll be sure the wp team can read your request. they don’t read every thread in the forum, or they might miss yours.

All I can think of is all teh abuse by spammers that it would cause. Just set up a redirect to their main site.
