“Feature Request: Bluesky Social Integration”

    I’m using Blue Sky more these days, and I want to encourage WordPress to set up automatic sharing of posts on Blue Sky. Thanks :)

    Hi @katerauner,

    You can automatically share your posts to Bluesky platform by first connecting your WordPress.com site to your Bluesky account via Jetpack Social.

    1. From your site’s dashboard, navigate to Tools > Marketing.
    2. Select Connections tab.
    3. Scroll down to find the Bluesky platform, and click the Connect button.
    4. Type in your Bluesky handle.
    5. Generate the App Password in your Bluesky account. To do this, from your Bluesky page, navigate to Settings > Privacy & Security > App Passwords > + Add App Password > Type in for example “wpcom” as your app unique name. Then, copy the automatically generated password.
    6. Return to the WordPress.com Connection tab.
    7. Paste in the generated password to the App password field.
    8. Click the Connect Account button.
    9. A pop up will appear, saying “Connecting Bluesky. Is this the account you’d like to connect? All your new blog posts will be automatically shared to this account. You’ll be able to change this option in the editor sidebar when you’re writing a post.”
    10. Click the Connect button to complete.

    Now, when you publish a blog post, it’s automatically shared on your Bluesky page. To see a preview of your Bluesky post, click the green Jetpack icon at the top right of your post window.

    I tried these instructions, and the “connect account” button activated on its own when I entered the app password, but – alas! It hangs, its little circle rotating endlessly.

    Oops. Nevermind. I backed out and started over, this time entering the app password first and then my handle. This time, another window popped up with a “connect” button, which I clicked. It now says successful. I haven’t tested it yet, but looks good. Thanks
