Feature Request for Liking Comments
-
The current state of liking comments is that any person likes a comment and the star turns a different color. This is confusing because the like is not actually registered unless that person has a wordpress.com account and is logged in.
I think a better way would be a pop-up on the click which describes that an account is needed for someone who is not logged in to wordpress.com.

Hi there!
I’m not sure what exactly do you mean since the pop-up window that prompts you to log into your WordPress.com is precisely what you see if you try to like a post while not logged in.
Could you send us a screenshot of what you see? You can use an online tool for that (such as https://snipboard.io/), and add the link to your reply. -
Thanks for the reply. I tried this on my iPad (either through Safari or the Brave browser, I can’t remember which one) and that functionality was missing. It sounds like a bug or the feature hasn’t been implemented with support for the iPad/Tablets. I’m running the latest iPadOS version, which is 13.6.1. Thanks!

That login pop-up should definitely appear. Are you absolutely sure you were logged out of WordPress.com?
If you’re using any content blockers, would you please try with those switched off?

That’s weird, I just tried it again on Safari, Chrome, and the Brave Browser, and all three gave me the login pop-up window. I know I was logged out because I remember after clicking the like button and seeing that nothing happened, I logged in to see what that response would be. Maybe it was a glitch last time I tried it. Thanks for your help!
