Feature request – Pinterest sidebar widget

    I see that I can embed a Pinterest board or profile in a Page or Post on WordPress.com, which is very cool. However, where I really want this stuff to appear is in the sidebar but this isn’t possible for us lowly bloggers on WordPress.com, much to my chagrin. The free text widget only supports plain text and HTML so the nifty JS widgets don’t render the way they’re supposed to.

    I would love, love, LOVE it if we could have a widget that inserts a Pinterest board or profile into the sidebar, the way we can with Twitter and Instagram and whatnot. I really don’t want to have to switch to private hosting with WordPress.org to accomplish something this simple, particularly when there are other JavaScript-y widgets available for other services.

    Does anybody have any intel on whether this is something in the pipeline for future functionality, or is there an existing feature request that I can vote for someplace? Because I would vote for this SO HARD.

    I actually already did this! Thanks for the reply, though. I’m not really looking for a solution here, since what I want requires Javascript and custom JS isn’t allowed. I know it isn’t currently possible.

    I’m specifically requesting any information pertaining to a WordPress supported widget, like the ones that already exist for other services like Twitter, that will dynamically display my most recent pins in the sidebar.

    I can’t be the only person who would like to have something like this available, so I’m just wondering if there’s a feature request, or some other thread that indicates whether this is on the radar over at WordPress, and if it’s a feature that might be coming down the pike at some point.

    You could use the RSS widget and your Pintrest feed URL which will at least display some of the text content from your pinned items. It’s not exactly what you are looking for but it’s better than nothing! The URL you need to use should look something like this: http://pinterest.com/EXAMPLE/feed.rss.
