Featured content grid isn't showing in Gazette theme

The awesome grid display for featured content isn’t showing in the Gazette theme. I’ve tried everything, but it just won’t show.
What am I doing wrong?
I’m using wordpress.COM

Hi girlhouston – try adding your desired tag in the Customizer. Looks like you’ve chosen “featured” so this is what your Featured Content panel should look like:

Hi Kathryn, I have the exact same question! I was so glad and relieved to find your reply.
BUT, when I checked the Customiser, I could not find the “Featured Content” option :( This is what I see… http://sgtrendcity.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/gazette-customiser.jpg

Looks like you’re running a WordPress site on your own hosting – these forums are for folks hosted on WordPress.com. On a self-hosted site you’ll need to activate the Jetpack plugin to use Featured Content.

I see, thank you for your guidance. I completely overlooked the fact that this is a wordpress.com support forum. I will follow your instructions on Jetpack and seek help at https://wordpress.org/support/theme/gazette if need be.
