Featured Content menu unavailable

  Hello I’m using the theme 2014 and i’m trying to modify the layout on my home page so it displays a slider of my featured content instead of a blank homepage. So I navigated to theme customizer to look for the featured content section and… I don’t see it. Did they move it! I was able to access it before but now it looks like it disappeared> I really would prefer to use this feature. I created a custom page and set it as the site home page could that be the problem i’m not sure but I could use some help on the matter.
