Featured Content not appearing like demo

  How do I have the featured content appear with text over the featured image? Also how do I have testimonials appear as a side widget. It’s slowly coming along…

  How do I have the featured content appear with text over the featured image?

  1)You can decide on the three posts you would like to have as featured content. You can then just assign a common tag to all these posts.(e.g., “featured”). You can learn more about tags here:

  Organize Posts with Tags

  2)You can then just go to MySites->Themes->Customize->Feautred Content and put in the same tag(featured) in the section “Tag name”.
  The featured posts should appear correctly. Also, you can learn more about it in your theme’s “Featured Content” section:

  Also how do I have testimonials appear as a side widget.

  You can use a Text Widget and add a Testimonial Shortcode as per your convenience. Also, the theme page link above provides you details of the Testimonial features supported.
