Featured Content not Displaying as Set Example – Apostrophe 2
-
Hi Folks
I’ve tried everything to get the featured content to display as shown in the themes (Apostrophe 2) information page. On the top half of the page, four featured posts should be displayed. 2 x featured image 930 x 450 and 2 x featured image 450 x 450.
I’ve set the tag in Featured Content in settings (as Featured, but chosen the hidden option) and I’ve set 4 posts as featured posts giving them the Featured tag. I’ve also given 2 of those posts images sized 930 x 450.
I’ve set up 7 blog posts so, in theory, the page should display the 4 featured top half posts and 3 regular bottom half posts, but despite my efforts of tweaking the settings, tags and image sizing, all posts are displaying as 450 x 450 and there’s no definition between the featured top half and the regular bottom half. All posts display as the regular bottom half.
Is there something I’ve missed or is there a glitch in this theme?
Any help appreciated, thanks!

Hi there,
I tried visiting your site(https://eveelsewhere32985866.wordpress.com/) for more details however the site is marked private.
In order to help you better, please confirm the below points:
-You have defined featured tag name in the theme customizer as shown in this https://pasteboard.co/GZZxh0c.jpg ?
-You have added the same featured tag name in your post under tags as shown in this image https://pasteboard.co/GZZx8I4.jpg?Please note these tags are case sensitive.
Please let me know whether you have made the changes as same as in the images?
Thanks!

Hi
Yes, the points you have detailed above are both as the images. I have chosen to hide the tag, but I don’t believe this makes any difference for what I’m trying to achieve..
Thanks

eveelsewhere – your Featured Content tags look set up correctly to me. Can you please try making your individual posts not private? Since your entire site is already private, no one but WordPress.com staff like me (and any users you invite yourself) will be able to see them, and it’ll allow us to troubleshoot more easily. Thanks!

Hi Kathryn
Thanks for taking a look and confirming all settings are fine. Interestingly, I returned the status of all posts to be viewed by site members and they are now displaying as the theme example. However, I noticed that this happened when I changed the status of the posts to be viewed by site members. When I initially set up the posts, they were all set to be viewed by site members yet were not showing as the theme example.
I didn’t post this other issue I was having before, but I was also having trouble with the social media icons. I tried many times, but the Pinterest icon wouldn’t stay and kept reverting back to a link icon. I’ve tried adding it again today and the Pinterest icon is now staying put.
I can only guess that this theme needs a few days for the settings to set and that the posts will only display as the theme example if they are set to be viewed by site members (at least).
Thanks again.

Hi there,
Thanks for confirming things, Since you have mentioned the pinterest icon issue, I will like to share some information here which might help you.
Here is the link to a thread in which user was facing the similar issue: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/social-media-link-pinterest?replies=2#post-3057618
In this user was using .co.uk instead of .com in the pinterest account URL so it was showing link icon like you mentioned. If you’re also using the same then please try using .com in the end.
Hope this helps!

Hi Tarun
Thanks, I was using both co.uk and .com initially and both were showing as the link icon, so I gave up on both for a few days and left it empty. Today I tried with .com only and it has worked out fine, so all that makes sense!
It’s a mystery why Pinterest set profiles as .co.uk and then in the settings section it’s listed as a .com. 8-)
Thanks again
