Featured Content Slider – Arrows fell out of place
-
Hello, I’m using Dara theme, and with the featured content slider, the arrows have fallen below the images. They are now in an open space (the background color) in between the page content. I had this all working perfectly, and then suddenly after I added some new pages to the site in general, it did this and I can’t seem to get it to go back. I’m almost done and this is so frustrating. Anyone else encounter this? Please help! Thank you in advance.

Hi there,
Your featured images need to be at least 1180×600 pixels to cover the whole slider.
Try using wider and taller images and let me know if you’re still having trouble displaying them correctly.

Hi, that worked, but I’m confused. I had originally cropped my photos to 1180×442 (I read that in the documentation) and the slider looked terrific…a viewer would be able to see that there was content below. I didn’t seem to have any problems with that size. However, the slider changed for some reason, and then the arrows fell below the images. I resized the photos as you suggested to 1180×600 and the arrows are in the image now. However, I don’t like the look. The image slider dominates the page (it looks a little to studly so to speak) — is there any way to change the length of these images back to how I had them looking? Thanks so much.

@mwmermaid, if you wouldn’t mind going ahead and setting the images back to the size you want, we can try to sort out some CSS.
I would be sure to use the same image height each time, for what it’s worth.

@mwmermaid I did a bit more digging and found out it was supposed to accept the height you had; we’d just fixed a bug recently and accidentally introduced a new one.
Our theme team is on the case, so you can go ahead and sub out for the image height you originally wanted. Cheers!

Hi @mwmermaid,
We’re still looking into this issue, but as a temporary work around, I’ve included some CSS below that you can add to your site.
Please navigate to My Site > Customize > CSS, and copy and paste the following into the text area there:
.hero-content { padding-bottom: 0; }… then click ‘Publish’ to save.
This will make the slideshow look like it did originally, and once we fix the underlying issue, it can be removed.
Just let us know if you have any questions about the above, and we’ll follow up again here once the issue is fixed!

Glad to hear it, @mwmermaid! :)
The issue should now be fixed in the theme as well. That CSS fix won’t cause any problems if you leave it in place, but you’re safe to remove it now — the slideshow will maintain the correct height either way.
