Featured image
-
Good day!
I’ll start with a quote “don’t fix if it ain’t broken”. Please take note wordpress engineers.
I used a featured image with no problem whatsoever, I’d say as recently as 3 weeks ago. My blog is work in progress so I can’t really share the link. But the problem seems UI and wordpress specific anyway so you won’t need that. Theme skylark (cool theme btw!).
When I go to create a new post and add a featured image to it, all from within the “Add new post” interface, I follow the same instructions http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/.
Upload then select the image, click featured etc. Image shows up in the bottom right hand section. However, the image is not inserted into the editing area, where you’re supposed to write text. So all I see is a blank screen to enter text. Before, when you set a featured image, it would actually be inserted into the text area. And I could write text and see the image next to it. Now, no image is inserted and more importantly, when I publish the post, no image shows up in the post itself. Just the text I typed.
Weirdly enough though, the image WILL show up on skylark’s featured category thumbnails page. But not on the actual post. It was ok before.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

“Before, when you set a featured image, it would actually be inserted into the text area.”
That’s not correct: clicking the tab “Use as featured image” would never insert the image in the main edit box, except if you also clicked the tab “Insert into Post”. The difference is that you could click both tabs on the same screen once you uploaded an image, while now you have to do the one then do the other separately. -
sorry, my appology, yes you’re right. i guess it must have been more than 3 weeks? o:)
anyway, my point remains the same. it worked before, and you had actually fewer steps to complete this. so you were able to do this from one screen only. why changing it? perhaps i’m blind, but what seems to be the benefit to users when you have to do more tasks to complete the same now?
thanks for your response
