  I use the featured image on my posts and pages. I want to provide my readers high quality and large scaled pictures. Those pictures are way too huge for the featured image. When my posts are…posted on my facebook page, it’s ok, they automatically get smaller. However, when I use the search bar of my own blog, you can only see 1/5 or even 1/6 of my pictures.There should be an automatic “resizing tool” as I (and probably many more people) don’t want to upload twice the same picture; One for the post/page and the same one again (just smaller) so that it can used as a featured image.
  P.S. Sorry if this post doesn’t make any sense at all. I really need some sleep right now!!!

  When you upload an image for the featured image of a post, you still can edit it. There’s an option for this when you done uploading.

  Yes, there is such option, but doing that would force me to have that picture uploaded twice. Once for the article in which it will be at its full size and once more when I upload it and edit it for the featured image.
  What you said is a quite good solution, but doing it requires quite a lot of space as I upload 2-3 pictures per week.
