featured image as header image – differentiate for each page

featured image to show in position of header image – differentiate for each page. The edit page gives me the option to set a different featured image for each page but it does not consistently appear in the header space of that page….some other header image appears at random and then sticks. please assist with setting a different featured image in the header space for each page.

Hi there,
I’ve encountered the same issue myself. I’m quite sure the header image isn’t randomly selected. It should be possible to set this, although it’s possible that it’s done from another section of the settings. It depends on the theme you’re using. What theme are you using? I’ll install it myself and see if I can figure it out.

Are you using the theme called 2010? In that case, I’m sorry. I was wrong. There actually is a random setting for the header image.
If you just want one single picture to remain in the header, and not to randomly display different pictures, follow these steps:
1 – log in to your wp-admin panel at https://marymvg.wordpress.com/wp-admin
2 – in the main menu, go to Appearance > Customize
3 – in the menu that appears, click on Header Image
4 – if I’m right, under Current Header, on your site, it’s probably set to Randomizing suggested headers. If so, you can either just click on one of the pictures below, click on the button called Add new image (please note the recommended dimensions of 940 × 198 pixels).
5 – after you’re satisfied with your header image, click on the Save & Publish button at the top. Then go back to your website, refresh the page and check that your header image is no displaying the one you just chose on all pages.
6 – Please note that if you select a Featured image for either a post or a page, this will override the global setting you set in the previous steps. This way, you can set an individual header picture for certain parts of your website if you want to.
Let me know if this solves the issue.

Hi again
your point no 6
Please note that if you select a Featured image for either a post or a page, this will override the global setting you set in the previous steps. This way, you can set an individual header picture for certain parts of your website if you want to.
THIS is exactly what it is not doing and I wish to obtain. maybe I am not doing it from the correct panel? -
I see. They way I did it, was like this:
1 – go to your wp-admin panel
2- click on Pages > All pages, and click on the page you want to insert a new header image
3 – once inside the page editor, scroll down until you see the section called Featured Image. Click on Set Featured Image.
4 – Choose the image you want and click on the button in the lower right corner called Set Featured Image.
5 – Go up to the top right corner of your screen and click on Update.
6 – refresh your website in your browser and see if it works. Is this the same way you did it?
