Featured image error on Pen scratch theme

During preview, my blog post did not show the featured image, so I added the same image at the beginning of the body copy. However, now, after publishing, the post shows the same image twice consecutively- Once as a featured image and the second time as image in the post. If I ‘edit’ and remove either, both the images vanish on updating. How can I solve this issue?

Do you suppose making your first post to the support forum a spam post, about a product for self-hosted sites, and so presented in a forum for the wrong version of WordPress (.com vs. .org), and otherwise completely unrelated to the present topic, was a good idea?

Referring to my latest post on the home page(http://yshivangini.com/2015/08/27/when-travelling-photographers-sang-saare-jahan-se-achha/) , although not knowing what to do, I disabled the featured image and retained the in line image. Should I enable the featured image again? -

You might try it again. I don’t know what caused the failure of the featured image to display previously, but perhaps it was a momentary glitch. It does not make sense that adding an image to the post content would result in a featured image appearing, unless the theme routinely draws a featured image from post content. That is not the case in posts on the Penscratch demo.
If you continue to encounter the issue you’ve described, you may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention. Only staff will be able to view administrative areas of the site, such as a post editor.
