Featured Image Getting Cropped On Top
-
How do I center a photo when it is my featured image? When I add a featured image photo, the image is cropped on the top. If I’m including a picture of a person, the head gets cut off. Resizing the photo to be smaller in overall size does not help fix this problem.
What can I do to solve this problem?

Hello there!
I took a look at your site, and I am assuming the cropping issue is exemplified here:
http://mmaynard119.wordpress.com/2014/04/13/being-and-snookiness/The featured image area of your theme (The Writer) allows for images 377px in height and 1280 in width. Cropping your own photos accordingly will allow help those images appear properly within your header.
You can crop your image within the image editor by following this process:

I read the help on cropping before posting this. Since I am using WordPress.com, I am able to resize the number of pixels, but not cut the picture like shown in the help instructions. Are there certain limits in pixel size I can follow to avoid this from happening?

Hi there! It’s more a matter of dimensions, than pixel size. As long as your photos’ approximate dimensions match the theme’s, you will be all right. I suggest, in the future, using the panorama or landscape setting on your camera, rather than portrait. That should solve most of your problems. You still may have to do a bit of cropping, but nothing as extreme as you’re facing now.
If I may, there are some great free photo editing sites. They’ll give you more tools than the WordPress.com photo editor. I’ll share with you the ones I use, although there are others:
