I do not want the logo and menu to appear on the head of my homepage but instead the featured image to start from the top of the page without any space. How can I do that and alongside have the logo placed at the bottom of the homepage??

thepicturebar.wordpress.com is not using Edin theme, but The Full Frame Theme.
Could you activate Edin on thepicturebar or link the blog using Edin theme so I will be able to help you :-)

I need help with reducing the width of the content area now. As I have managed the rest.
I want to reduce the width of the content area so as to have a large enough background image to my pages.
Please advise!

Do you mean you want to have more orange area in the background? It is probably not a good idea to squeeze the content area.
Have you tried setting a background image to any page?

If you change the overall theme and content area width, the grid will be go awry since the theme determines the grid, and the size of the grid images based on the original widths, and changing those via CSS doesn’t work well.
