Featured image in RSS
-
I would absolutely love it if it were possible to insert the featured image in to the start of the description field of the RSS feed. Obviously not everyone would want this, but surely it could be toggled with a checkbox on a per-blog basis.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Howdy Angela!
I’m not sure I fully understand what you’re looking for. If I understand correctly, you’re looking to add an “image” tag within the description tag on your feed here:
Is that correct? Could you explain why/what you’re trying to accomplish?

So, currently the only place you can see the featured image in your feed is under item.media:thumbnail and item.media:content, and the link has ?w=150 appended to it.
I’d also like to see that image URL in the HTML of item.description and item.content:encoded. So, by that I mean actually inserting <img src=”https://angelaalcorn.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/journal-248517_1280.jpg”>
(without the ?w=150) just before the first word or <p> tag.I hope that makes more sense. :)
Thanks!

Thanks for clarifying! The format of your feed is standardized across the web so I’m not actually sure if that’s an acceptable format. Have you seen this added anywhere in other feeds? If so, could you point me to an example?
-
Ah, standards.
Yeah, I know of sites that manually hack their feeds to do this (I have been), but I thought it would be awesome to have it just as a checkbox option.
Doesn’t matter. Can’t hurt to ask! :)

Definitely not! As of right now, I don’t think this is something we’re going to add to WordPress.com. However, if you’d like, you could probably set this up with a plugin/bit of magic on a self-hosted site!
