Featured Image in Sela Theme totally cut off despite correct image width
-
Hello,
Could someone take a look at the computer view (not smartphone view) of my website? I am using the Sela theme and having difficulty with the featured image. It is totally cut off in the computer screen view even though I am using images that are at least 1180 pixels wide.
Is there a custom CSS that can help solve this problem? Or is there something that I am missing regarding the featured image size?
This is my site

Hi there,
Do you mean cut off vertically? That is expected.
This theme has a minimum width requirement for featured images, to ensure we don’t have to stretch the image to fit horizontally as that could lead to distortion or quality loss.
But that does not mean the full height of the image will show – the height of the featured image is at most 435px high, and it will always be the center 435px of the image showing, with anything extra at the top and bottom cut off.
That cropping is done by the theme before the image even loads in a browser, i.e. it’s the cropped version of the image that loads, and not CSS that’s causing it to be cropped only after it loads. So it’s also not possible to use CSS to prevent that cropping from taking place.
You might be able to do this with a child theme, but we’re not able to help with that level of customization. If you want to look into that option, you can get a quote from a freelance developer at Upwork for making these changes:
