featured Image is always distorted

  Right now on theme “BUENO.” http://lornakismet.wordpress.com

  About the Featured Image: I have tried several times to set a picture as a featured image, and they always turn out distorted, too wide, too thin, too short, etc. Why does this happen? What special considerations should one make when setting Feature Images?
