Featured image issues
-
Hi ,
I am having trouble with the featured image in my Radcliffe 2 theme.
I have seen in the documentation that a picture that is 2000 x 1500 pixels and therefore, in the hope of it working, I have chosen an image in that size. The problem is that I can’t get the website to display the whole image, it keeps cutting off the top and bottom. I have tried cropping the image narrower, but all i do is guess and fail with that.
Hope there are someone out there who can help me.
The website haven’t been published yet, so the preview link to the site is this one:

Hi there, do you still need help with this issue?
I see in the meantime you’ve switched your above site to the Affinity theme, but let us know if you need further assistance.

Oh I can’t edit here?huh

If the Theme always crops the images I can’t use it.
Can I choose the image size when I add the image to the page, so basically have no featured image above, or maybe put something different then?

Hello there, have you had a chance to look at Radcliffe 2’s theme showcase page? https://wordpress.com/theme/radcliffe-2
Unlike regular images you insert in a post or page, the Featured Images in Radcliffe2 need to be at the dimensions mentioned:
Radcliffe2 looks its best when you assign a Featured Image to your posts. Featured Images appear full-width, as a background to the post header information. We recommend using images at least 2000px wide by 1500px tall to get a clear, crisp picture.
If you meant something else, please give more details.
Off-topic/ I noted that you are masking your domain rather than mapping it and this may cause problems with some theme features and SEO. You might want to consider upgrading to the Personal plan and then map your domain. Here’s more on that:

Hi and thank you,
so just to make clear I understand this.
Basically the featured image always gets cropped.
It is not possible to choose the way it is cropped? I would at least want to edit the the position it is cropped. ?My featured image is 2050 × 3472. So it is clear. That’s not the problem. I just want full control over the image.
Thank you for reminding me to take a look at the mapping. I didn’t realize it could cause problems. I’ve been meaning to switch to an ad free site anyways.

Hello again @sazensa, it’s best to edit your images in an external image editor before uploading them so that they are already the specified size and cropped the way you want them on upload. If you know how the image is cropped by the software you can take that margin into consideration. Also, as Radcliffe 2 is a responsive theme, there might be some slight differences in display of that image when you view your site on different devices.
The key word in the Featured image description is “background” to the post header.
