Featured Image issues in Penscratch Theme

  • Unknown's avatar

Am currently using Tapestry Theme and using Featured images. In the blog opening page, only a smaller version of the Featured Image and a few lines of opening text appear. I generally have an opening image as well, which is the same as the Feature image.

I briefly switched to Penscratch and noticed that the Featured Image appears as a large image across the column, as well as the opening image. Since my opening image is the same as the Featured image, two copies of the same image shows, making the layout look sloppy.

Is there a global way to suppress “Featured Images” in Penscratch? I don’t want to go into each post and “Remove Featured Imaged;” then if I switch to a different theme which uses this correctly, I will have to go back into each post and re “set featured image.”

    Hope this makes sense?

    Hello Arun,

Each theme manages Featured Images differently, depending on how the developer intended them to be user. Unfortunately, this means there can be some conflict when you switch themes.

The additional problem in your case is that Tapestry has been retired as a theme for some time:
    https://theme.wordpress.com/retired/tapestry/

When a theme is retired, it doesn’t receive the updates that “live” themes do. Because of this, you might stumble upon certain conflicts that cannot be resolved automatically.

If you want to keep this retired theme, that’s fine. However, you will have to make image adjustments manually.

You can also switch to a new theme that supports all the recent updates to WordPress.com.

Here are a list of active themes:

I’m sorry I can’t be of a lot of assistance, however I’m happy to help in any other way if you have further questions. Please let me know. Thank you!

Hmmm, thank you for taking the time to provide that update on Christmas. :-) *Yaay WordPress*

Since the Tapestry theme is retired, if i do switch to another theme, will Tapestry still be available to me if I want to switch back. I am generally happy with Tapestry, but for a few tweaks.

Am trying out the different themes for my different sites.
    Happy Holidays,

    Ha! My pleasure :)

That is a great question…because no, it won’t be. If you switch from a retired theme, you cannot change your mind and go back to Tapestry.

Excellent! If you have questions, please do let us know.

    Wishing you all the best!

What! Glad I did not switch to “try out” another theme. Since Tapestry was a paid theme, do I get a credit to purchase another theme instead?

Does this not defeat the central tenet of a “Premium” theme that you can switch back and forth ad lib?

    :-(

    Hey there!

I have to apologize — I misspoke. You can indeed re-install that theme at any time. Your purchase is entirely safe :)

    Thanks much.

Phew! Thank you Robyn for your constant help.

Now I can be a bit more adventurous with theme, knowing I can always get back to Tapestry.
Best Wishes for the New Year.
