Featured Image not displayed on About Page
-
On the About page, my image doesn’t show up. I’ve tried uploading the picture when editing the About page (inserting the image in the “Featured Image” block), and then when I preview the page or publish it and check it later on my blog, the picture is not being displayed. Instead I am getting the same Header Image as in the Front Page.
Shouldn’t the About Page display the Featured Image instead of the Header image?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi hoursthegod,
In order for the About page to display a different featured header image from the home page, your theme must support featured header images.
Featured Header Images
Note: This feature only works with themes that allow custom header images and have featured header images enabled.
(from http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/)
The Tonal theme you are using does not appear to support that option, but here is a list of themes that do:

Hope that helps!

Thanks a ton Andrea, for the very prompt response.
But then what is the “Featured Image” for while creating a new page. The theme asks me (or should I say permits me?) to insert an image as Featured Image while creating a new page.

Featured Image is ALWAYS in your sidebar. Even on themes that do not use featured images. It’s in case you later switch to a theme that does support them.

Hi Horusthegod,
From what I understand, the featured image option in a theme provides a uniform way of displaying whatever image you choose to be the essence image for each post. In other words, each theme might display a featured image differently, but within a theme the image for each post or page that is selected as feature image for that post or page will display in the same way creating a consistent look across your site.
On your tonal theme, it looks like the featured image will display as a large image before the text of the post or page it is associated with. See the theme support page for example:
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/tonal/
One way to play with the featured image and see how it looks across themes would be to set the featured image for a page then demo other themes to see how it displays differently.
For a general discussion on the function/purpose of featured images, this overview might help. It is geared toward WordPress.org users but the information is still relevant:
