Featured Image not setting

  I am having an issue setting the Featured Image on one of my posts. The Post is titled, “Sasquatch! Music Festival, Part III: This Is A Story ‘Bout Billy Berue & Connie Bigs”. I set the first photo as the featured image, and when I go into the “Set Featured Image” page on the Media, it shows it as being selected as the featured image. But when I share the post, all that comes up in the thumbnail photos to select are a different picture and a video still. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  Hi Bill,

  I took a look at your post, and I was able to reproduce the problem you mentioned when I tried sharing your post on Facebook. Your featured image is set correctly, so it looks like this is an issue with how the image is being selected when you share the post. Can you confirm where you are trying to share the post (Facebook or another service)?

  We are looking into the issue, but any additional information you can provide will help us pinpoint what exactly is happening here.

  Hi Rachel. Thanks for getting back to me. I was sharing it through the facebook share button at the bottom of the post. When I originally posted it, it went to facebook and twitter and they both post with the thumbnail of a video still. The actual picture that is supposed to be the featured image isn’t even available to select. Although it appears as the featured image in the media. I’m always switching between wordpress.com on my laptop and the wordpress app on my iphone while I’m writing, so I don’t know if that had anything to do with it.

  It’s also doing the same thing on Part IV, that I posted this morning. It must be something between wordpress.com and the wordpress iPhone app. I set a featured image on the app, and it shows it as being selected on wordpress.com on my laptop, but it’s not even displaying in the thumbnails when I try to share it.

  Hi Bill,

  Thank you for the additional information and for reporting this issue. It turns out that this is a bug that comes up when there is a video in the post you are sharing — as you have seen, the thumbnail for your video comes up instead of the featured image. Our team is working on a fix for this. :)
