Featured image not working

  I cannot insert a featured image. This started suddenly yesterday. I had no problem inserting featured images previously.

  I’ve just noticed that landscape images seem to be ok, but portrait images show up as a flat line, both in edit post page and when it is actually posted.

  Also the other day when I was playing with the featured image insert button, I noticed a different menu, which then later disappeared. Is this something the WP team are playing around with at the moment? (by the way, the new menu looks great!)
