Featured image on page does not display correctly
-
Hi, I have a problem with the display of the featured image on a page.
I have a page set up as a site with blog posts – each blog post has its own featured image that shows up at the top if you click on it. I wanted to do the same for my pages but when I set an image as a featured image it displays none of the content on the page anymore and only a very bad version of another picture than the one I set as featured image. (Its the same image seat as a featured image in one of the blog posts in case that matters). Can anybody help? Thanks! -
Hi there!
What’s the address of the site you’re working on?

Hi, its cillicat.travel.blog but its not launched yet as I would like to get it fixed before I launch it – can I give you any information so you could still help me out?

Hm, it looks like the page just simply hasn’t been updated yet.
Would you mind publishing the changes?
-
The page is published and i presses the update button – its greyed put and not clickable. When I look at it as a preview or in general it shows the picture with the lakes and stuff that is kinda blue and nothing else – there should be 2 blog posts and the picture should be an icelandic flag – if i remove the featured image (flag) it ends up showing both blog posts correctly bur when i put the featured image back in it has the same error
-
I’m having trouble reproducing the same error, and I’m beginning to wonder if it’s just this specific page.
Do you have this problem on any other pages on the site?
-
I habe now made the “blog” page with the same featured image and it too now shows the same lake picture as the “iceland” page – it seems to crwate the same problem on every page

Hi there,
This is definitely weird.
I activated Cubic on my own test site, and tried adding a featured image to a page there, and it works fine, so it does look like this is specific to your site.
Did you create those pages at My Site ->Site ->Pages ->Add New, or did you perhaps use a different method to create them?
And can you check if the same thing happens when you create a page using the classic editor instead? Open the editor, and click the … button top right. You should see a Switch to Classic option there. Click that, exit the editor, and then create and publish a new page with a featured image set.

Hi – I have not – the pages were automatically created when I set up a menu through customizing my theme! I do not have the same issue when I make a new page through the New page button! Thank you very much!
Could you tell me how I can now change the Menu from linking to the old Iceland page to the new one?
Thanks
-
Ah I habe already found a way to link it to the new page thank you.
I have tries incorporating the blog into the newly created page now and it ends up weirdly phasing into each other and not displaying it correctly. The featured image is now correct but the blog posts are not shown like they should – the page is called “Iceland New Page Button”
-
Ah okay. I see the new page.
Did you mean for this to be a blog post like the other two posts on the site? If so, can you start here instead?
-
Also, just by looking around the site a little bit, it looks like you may have meant to add these pages as category pages, rather than as static pages.
Did you want something like this instead?
https://cillicat.travel.blog/category/iceland/ -
No it is meant to be a page collecting all posts on the topic of Iceland. I want most of my pages to be a collection of my blog posts but sorted by topics
-
Got it, so … would something like this work well for you?
https://cillicat.travel.blog/category/iceland/ -
Its not exactly what I wanted but would work fine for now – how do I set up a page like this myself?
-
The Customizer page issue I can’t replicate, so that appears to be something unique to your site.
The issue at https://cillicat.travel.blog/iceland-new-page-button/ appears to be a problem with the Blog Posts block and the Cubic theme you’re using. I’m reporting this as a bug with the theme to our developers, but Cubic is quite old, so I can’t guarantee that it will be fixed.
So a category page as @supernovia suggested is the only alternative if you don’t want to switch themes.
Category pages are created automatically the moment you publish a post in a particular category, and once the category page exists, you can add it directly to your menu as you would a regular page. Edit the custom menu and click Add Items, then just select “Category” instead of “Page” to see the categories that are available to add.
-
Ok – thanks, I really hope they can still fix it, as I habe really fallen in love with the theme…
Thank you so much and also thank you to all the others who have helped me – I really appreciate it!
-
I’m glad that will work for you :) Like @kokkieh suggested, I doubt this particular bug in Cubic would be fixed since it’s nearing retirement, but the category page option should work well for your purposes. Plus, it’ll automatically generate those pages for you as you add categories to your posts.
