Featured image on Publication theme on tablet device

  I’m getting ready to create a new website and really want to use the Publication theme on WordPress.com (not self-hosted). However, this new site needs to work well on tablets … and when I view the demo site (as well as other sites running on the Publication theme) on my iPad Mini in portrait mode, there’s a huge gray bar along the right side of the screen, forcing the featured image to the left and cutting off the headline. Rotating the device to landscape mode resolves the issue. Any thoughts on how this issue might be resolved? I need to have my site ready for use in mid-April and if this can’t be resolved, I’m going to choose another theme. Thanks!

  Note: the site I need help with is NOT musicartsweek2016.wordpress.com. It’s a site I have yet to create. I’m seeing the issue on the theme’s demo site: publicationdemo.wordpress.com.
