Featured image on Tritol Lite inconsistent

  Setting a featured image while editing a post is having inconsistent results:
  Sometimes it lets me define which image from a slideshow is used as thumbnail on the home page.
  Sometimes it puts that image in a large slider post across the top of the page. Can you clarify how it works?
  I would like to be able to define which image from a slideshow is used as thumbnail on the home page – and was able to do that for a while. But now, selecting featured image only results in a large slider post across the top of the page which I do not want.
