Featured Image plus an image inside the text

Featured Image in Bueno theme:
I notice that if I click “Set as Featured Image” and then also click “Insert into post,” and if I go to my Home Page, then I end up with the big rectangular featured image between the post title and the text of the post PLUS that picture inside the post.
If a viewer were to click a link that takes him to the post, then he will see only the picture that is embedded into the post but he will not see any featured image.
I have solved this problem by setting a featured image and then NOT CLICKING THE “Insert into Post“ link and just clicking the X (close out) link. When I click the X to close the window, then I get the featured link but no picture in the text. I then set in a different picture in the text, or a picture taken differently.
The point is: I want there always to be a picture in the post or that rectangle under the post title. Am I doing the right thing to achieve that goal? Or have I overlooked a better, faster way to do it?
