featured image problem
-
hi all,
I have this problem: the wordpress templates I’m using are only showing featured images on the frontpage.
My webhost account has got only a limited storage space, so I use < img src = “http:” > to give my blogs a picture and my readers know what I’m talking about.
My question: is there a WP plugin or another way to set < img src = “http:” > as featured image without downloading the picture to my webhostaccount?
thank you.

There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes anything at all stated here http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ FTP access, and plugins are available only for VIP bloggers http://vip.wordpress.com/our-services/ or for those with WordPress.ORG installs.
If you require any plugins you will need to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set you your own WordPress.org software install to install them.

This blog is being free hosted by WordPress.com http://mimohoorn.wordpress.com/
The Origin theme is behaving exactly the way it is designed to behave, which is excerpts only on the front page of the blog but Origin does have an active excerpt box below the post editor, so you can control the length of the excerpt displayed and include a thumbnail image if you wish to. This is the workaround you can use to override excerpt display on the front page.
You compose your whole post first and before you publish it you switch to the HTML (Text) editor, copy the code, paste it into the Excerpt box below the editor, along with the thumbnail image code and publish the post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/excerpts/#creating-excerpts
This will have to be done on every post.Alternatively you can choose to use another theme that’s not designed the same way. See here for a list of themes not to choose if you want to change to a theme that does not automatically display front page excerpts. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/theme-with-automatic-excerpts?replies=13#post-1396410
